Hello again, crafty friends! What a fun card this was to make! I have always loved rainbows and their significance- a reminder of God’s love and His promise. Only He could create something so very beautiful! His creation was my inspiration for this bougie birthday rainbow card.
With the Born to Sparkle 3D embossing folder and stencil in mind, I set about creating an ink blended background using Distress Oxide inks on a 5” x 7” white background. Using my favorite blending brushes, I started at the bottom of the panel with Wilted Violet, then Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin and finally, Lumberjack Plaid at the top.
Adding some texture…
Once my bougie birthday rainbow was complete, I ran the panel through the Born to Sparkle embossing folder, creating the raised gemstone background. To really make the embossing stand out, I placed the coordinating stencil over the top of the panel and blended more of the same distress oxide inks over the top. By doing so, the raised gemstones became darker and more intense than the surrounding background.
The rest of the card went together quite easily with a selection of word and number dies from the Bougie Birthday Collection. Each word was cut out twice, once from black card stock and again from white glitter card stock. I placed the black behind the white, slightly off-setting them to create a shadow effect. The numbers were cut from black glitter paper and placed over a horizontal banner cut from the white glitter paper.
There is so much shimmer and shine on this bougie birthday rainbow card, it just makes me smile. I hope it has the same effect on you!
Adding the inside…
On the inside of the card, I chose a greeting from Bougie Birthday Sentiments Press Plate & Dies. Press plates are made to be used with the Spellbinders Betterpress System, but they can also be used with the Glimmer Hot Foil System. This time I chose to use black ink and the Betterpress, resulting in a sharp impressed sentiment.
These bougie press plates have all 6 sentiments on one plate, AND with one coordinating die, all of them cut out in one pass through your die cutting machine! I absolutely LOVE this time-saving feature! Spellbinders is so very smart!! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my colorful rainbow card today!
Until next time,
~Krista
