Stitching dies have become my new therapeutic crafting experience. While there are a few companies out there that offer stitching dies, Spellbinders is my favorite, hands down! So easy to take on the run or to sit and work on after a stressful day, these dies offer so many creative opportunities. I like to die cut a whole pile of them in different colors of card stock so that they’re ready to go when I am.
The dies create stitching holes in your card stock and then all you have to do is choose your DMC embroidery thread colors and begin stitching. DMC threads consist of 6 strands, which would be quite thick for this purpose, so I prefer using either 2 or 3 strands. I use some 1/8″ craft tape to secure the thread on the back of my card stock panel and I NEVER worry what the backside looks like because nobody will ever see it!
Tip: Place a piece of tissue paper or wax paper between the die and card stock for easier removal of the chads.
All of the products that I used to make this card are from Spellbinders Club of the Month (MAY 2024) which includes multiple die sets (including stitching dies) glimmer sets, Betterpress plates, stencils, stamps with coordinating dies, a wax melt stamp & wax, 2D & 3D embossing folders and a free bonus item if you purchase “the whole caboodle”!
Club products are “while supplies last” and the most popular items can sell out quickly. By subscribing, you are guaranteed the products, with no need to worry about missing out! FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) is real, LOL!!!
I began creating my card using a tan background panel that was embossed with Latticework Embossing Folder.
For the pineapple, I used Spellbinders Stitched Pineapple, which is a 6 piece set of dies. I’ve used several different colors of card stock, along with some variegated DMC thread. The sentiment was made with my Spellbinders Glimmer Machine and the Tropical Sentiments Hot Foil Plates, which was a free bonus because I purchased the May 2024 Caboodle.
To decorate around the pineapple, I added some flowers from the Grand Tropical Flamingos and Tropical Friends die sets.
Finishing off the card, I added some pink rhinestones to the flower centers.
