I could not wait to join the current Lawn Fawn challenge #193 to create a card inspired by a book, movie or song! Oh my, the ideas just started popping into my head and I couldn’t get started fast enough!! I decided to go with one of my favorite songs by Meghan Trainor, “Better When I’m Dancin’”. This song always cheers me up, makes me happy and is on my craft room playlist! Life is always better when you’re dancin’!
Card challenges can be so inspiring and generally include a sketch, color scheme, or a theme. You can see my previous challenge card here, where I created a birthday themed card which was based on a sketch.

Today’s card features Lawn Fawn’s adorable mice and picnic ants as the main attraction! The images and sentiments come from a variety of stamp sets, including Crazy Antics, So Very Mice, You Autumn Know, Treat Cart Add-On: Smoothies & Juice, Henry’s ABC’s, and more.
Let’s make a scene!
Creating the background for my scene was just part of the fun and I started with a bright yellow card stock panel. I placed the panel on a sticky mat and laid Draped Ribbon stencil over the panel. Using Distress Oxide Inks, including Mustard Seed, Wild Honey & Abandoned Coral, I blended in a beautiful sunbeam filled sky!
Secondly, I cut a piece of Emerald Watercolor Wishes with Simple Stitched Hillside Borders for a grassy meadow. This was adhered to the bottom of the stenciled panel.
Relax and color!

After stamping and die-cutting the images, I colored them all with Ohuhu Alcohol Markers, a process that I thoroughly enjoy. Coloring is such a relaxing part of crafting, especially when using quality products like Ohuhu!
The colored images were placed onto the background panel to create a lovely scene full of dancing mice and ants. Life is truly better when you’re dancin’!

Better when you’re dancin’
To make the sentiment, I used four different stamp sets and then cut each individual word out. They were placed casually across the top of the sky.
Finishing the sentiment, I used Henry’s ABC’s, cutting the letters out of Rainbow Ever After, Fairy Godmother and then ink blended each letter to darken the colors a bit. The top of the letters were inked with Distress Oxide Shaded Lilac, while the bottoms were inked with Blueprint Sketch. I then placed them carefully across the sky on a slight arch.

This card just makes me smile and I hope it does the same for you! Thanks so much for stopping by today 🙂
Until next time,
~Krista
