Hi Crafty Friends! Today I’m sharing some Christmas tags that can also be used as ornaments. I began prepping for these last year, right before my mom was diagnosed with cancer, so it all ended up on the back-burner while I spent time with mom. What a wise move that was, as she passed away in March and I’m thankful for spending as much time with her as possible.
I had forgotten all about the bin full of unassembled tags until just recently. After refreshing myself on what was what, I set up an assembly line and got started putting them together.
It took me about a ten days to finish the process and now I’m excited to share a couple of them with you. They’re listed and currently available in my Etsy store, should you desire to claim these as your own.
Wheeeee!!! Penguin Shaker Tag & Ornament
First up is my festive, playful penguin shaker tag. I used my e-cutter to design the tag shape which is cut from red Bazzill textured card stock and measures 3 1/4″ wide by 3 3/4″ tall at it’s highest point. In addition, there’s about 5 inches of doubled ribbon. The depth is 1/8″ because of the foam tape used to create the shaker.
The penguin is from a retired Stampin’ Up bundle, Freezin’ Fun & Freezin’ Friends Dies. I used Ohuhu Alcohol Markers to color things in. The background is cut from decorative paper and I filled the shaker with holographic glitter and clay shaker bits. On the background, I stamped the word “Wheeeee!!!”, also from the Freezin’ Fun stamp set.
The back side is stamped “to” and “from” so that this can be attached to a gift, however, it can also be hung in a Christmas tree!
Have a Mice Christmas tag & ornament
Next I designed a circular tag, again with my e-cutter, and cut it from a beautiful winter blue card stock. The mouse and it’s scarf, hat, cheese gift and sentiment are from Sunny Studio, Merry Mice stamp set.
I used a soft green, tree filled decorative paper as the background and white iridescent glitter for the shaker. Once again, I used Ohuhu Alcohol Markers to color the mouse and it’s accessories. I really enjoy coloring with these markers because they blend so beautifully and are so very economical. While Michaels is now carrying this brand, I still believe you can get a better deal by shopping directly with Ohuhu.
This tag/ornament combo measures 3 1/4″ wide by 3 1/2″ tall with an additional 4 inches of doubled ribbon. The back side is stamped with “to” and “from”, making this useful for gift giving.
I will share some more tags in a future post, but I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what I’ve been busy with and I hope you’ve been inspired to make some tags of your own!!
