I (Heart) You So Dam Much…What an adorable play on words! Lawn Fawn never disappoints with their cute puns, adorable designs and amazing samples. Put that together with Spellbinders and we’ve got a winning combination! Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
From chocolates to beavers…
My inspiration for this card happened while teaching my granddaughter to stitch, a story that I told in this previous post. While stitching these tags, I realized that the colors would be perfect for a chocolate candy themed Valentine card. With that in mind, I set to make it happen. Because what could be better than chocolate candy?!?
However…I am easily distracted and while looking for the stamps I wanted to use, I ran across the Lawn Fawn beavers and the rest is history. I call those distractions my “squirrel” moments. “Look! Squirrel!”, and I’m off on a new path. Can you relate? Please tell me I’m not the only one 🙂 In this case, maybe I should call it my “beaver” moment…HA!
I always love using Lawn Fawn stamps because they don’t skimp on accent designs, which can really make or break a cute scene. As an example, my apple tree card was full of extras and it makes card making so much fun. Today’s little beaver stamp set is an addition to the original Wood You Be Mine stamp set, which gives us more wonderful options for creativity! I used this stamp set for the little words on the tags, “hugs” and “you+me”, as well as one of the cattails and the log.
Stitching Die of the Month…
So, getting back to the stitching frames. They are part of Spellbinders February Club of the Month, and I cut the largest frame with a dark espresso card stock. I used a red/pink/brown variegated DMC thread, #4516 for the stitching, and was thinking of chocolate covered cherries the entire time! This is when I remembered my original plan for the card…(sigh).

I chose a vibrant pomegranate colored card stock for the card base as well as a mat on top of the scalloped piece. It is a rich pinkish red tone that worked perfectly with the thread. That was topped with an espresso layer, embossed with hearts.
The two tags were cut from a pecan brown card stock and were stitched with the same thread as the frame. They were then adhered to the heart embossed panel.
Coloring for I (Heart) You card…
After stamping and die-cutting the beavers, log and cattails, I colored them in with my Ohuhu alcohol markers. I haven’t sat down to color in a while, so this was an enjoyable process and one that I intend to do more often. The tips on these markers have not frayed one bit and look like they did the day I bought them. I adore coloring with them!
The Ohuhu colors I used…

To create some dimension, I popped up the beavers, the log, and the sentiment on their respective tags.
The card needed some bling, but nothing I had seemed to match the pomegranate card stock, so I made my own! I punched out some different sized hearts from the pomegranate and rose colored card stock and then added Nuvo Crystal Drops over each heart. These drops create a raised 3D effect. After a couple hours of drying time, I deemed them “perfect” and scattered them about on the card front. You can see the shiny raised hearts on the next picture.

I hope your Valentine’s Day is filled with love from those you hold dearest! Tell your tribe how much you love them, because tomorrow is never promised. Thank you for spending a part of your day with me and have a happy Valentine’s Day!
Until next time,
~Krista
