Sign ups are open TODAY for new subscribers of the Spellbinders Club of the Month! Among the different club options is one that I am excited to introduce: the March Stitching Die, called Diamond Knit!
If you love plaids, then this club option is going to knock your socks off! Imagine creating plaids of any color combination, for any season or occasion! It is perfect for A2 backgrounds, measuring 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”.
Creating with Diamond Knit Plaid
- First, die cut a piece of black card stock with the Diamond Knit stitching die. If you want easy removal of the chads (the tiny holes), follow my “2 tips for using stitching dies” found in this post.

- Secondly, cut seven 5/8” squares from a pale blue card stock, gluing each square onto the stitching sections of the black plaid panel. Additionally, cut three 1/2” squares for the edges, cutting each square in half diagonally to create six triangles. Finish by gluing the triangles along the edges.

- Thirdly, use red embroidery thread to stitch over each pale blue square or triangle.

- Finally, glue the plaid panel to an indigo blue colored card base. As a result, you have assembled a four color plaid!

Adding a focal point
- Use Spellbinders Be Bold Blooms to create a flower arrangement by cutting pieces from reds, pinks and indigo blues.

- In addition, add highlights to the red flower using a blending brush with Picket Fence Distress ink.
- Continue by cutting an oval base using Essential Modern Ovals dies.
- Cut “hello” from brushed gold paper using a Faux Stitched Sentiment die. Use black foam squares to pop the sentiment up on the card.
- Finally, add several gold gems around the flowers.
Don’t miss out on March’s Clubs of the Month, which are open to YOU today!! Here’s a sampling of unfinished plaid panels that I’ve made and that you could make too! Think Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, birthdays and MORE!

In conclusion, this die is versatile and limited only by your imagination! Plaids never go out of style, so this stitching die is going to be essential in your crafting stash!
Remember that the sign-up window starts today, March 6, for the March clubs!
Until next time,
