I decided to mix things up today by playing along with a card challenge! There are many out there, so I cruised through several of them and chose one from Simon Says Stamp blog: Winter Blues.
While I didn’t use any Tim Holtz supplies, the challenge rules allowed for other products. With that in mind, I chose to start with a Spellbinder Glimmer Plate: Modern Lines. I used shiny silver foil, transferring it onto a white panel using my Glimmer Hot Foiling System. This was a gift from my husband last Christmas and it’s a fun addition to my craft room!
Adhering my foiled panel to a beautiful blue card base, I moved on and die cut some pieces using Spellbinder’s Festive Ornaments Dies. I repeated the same ornament twice, making each with the same three shades of blue.
The hangers were cut from gold foiled card stock which I thought looked nice against the silver striped background. Silver and gold go nicely together, as I was reminded of while watching Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer with my grandkids over the weekend. Yukon Cornelius sings about silver and gold and it’s such a catchy tune! And now you’re singing it too, aren’t you?!?
Anyway, back to my challenge card with the cute little banner which was made with Mama Elephant’s Winter Banners Dies. There are several banner sets in this series and I love having all of them in my collection!
My craft room tip of the day…
My craft room tip for today is one that I learned from Jennifer McGuire, who is oh-so-talented! I pre-stamp and/or die cut most of my sentiments using various colors of ink and card stock so that they’re ready when I need one. I store them in a notebook filled with baseball trading card sleeves, each pocket holding a different sentiment. While I don’t always find the exact color that I need, it’s still one of my favorite card making tools!
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing today’s challenge card while I’m still working on my next gingerbread creation, coming soon!
Until next time,
~Krista
