Today I’m celebrating Lawn Fawn’s birthday as well as my own, so I was happy to join their Birthday Challenge #192! I’m using Lawn Fawn’s Veggie Happy stamp set along with All the Speech Bubbles and the Veggie Happy Add-On stamps, creating a cute garden scene.

I’ve been hitting a mental block in my craft room lately, and when that happens, I seek out a challenge to spark my creativity. Today’s card is the result of playing along with Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #677 as well as Lawn Fawn’s birthday challenge.

Both of these challenges helped me recover my crafting mojo and the result is today’s card. I just adore Lawn Fawn’s cute mice which are featured in many of their stamp sets including Veggie Happy. You can see more of these cuties in my previous post, here. With all the elements available to create a vibrant, detailed scene, the only limit is your imagination!
As garden planting time is quickly approaching, I thought this veggie card would be a perfect way to capture that feeling! I’m ready to get my hands dirty 🙂
I found it a simple process to create three small scenes to fit the sketch, adding each scene to a white stitched rectangle. Each one was ink blended with Distress Oxide Inks in Tea Dye, Gathered Twigs, Speckled Egg & Faded Jeans. I also splattered these rectangles with black and white paint before adhering the stamped images.

The rectangles were adhered to a 5 1/2” x 4 1/4” background panel which was cut from Lawn Fawn’s Watercolor Wishes paper pack. I absolutely LOVE that these papers are sold individually by color, as I often use more of the Emerald Green than anything else!
After stamping and die cutting the images, I colored them with Ohuhu Alcohol Markers and then placed them into the scenes. I’ll admit, I struggle a bit with coloring the mice. I’m really grateful that Lawn Fawn is starting to include stencil sets with most of their newer stamps. Unfortunately, this set doesn’t have that option, so practice is definitely required!

I always say that a card is not complete without something on the inside. In order to finish this card, I stamped a sentiment from Veggie Happy, then cut the word “VEGGIE” with Henry’s ABC’s dies. I love a good pun and these alphabet dies help the word really POP! I finished it off by adding a tomato plant to the bottom left corner.

I’m hoping to spend my birthday doing what I love (crafting!), spending time with my family and enjoying a delicious dinner out…I’m thinking Mexican sounds good! Additionally, I’m grateful that you’ve chosen to spend a few minutes of your day with me!
Until next time,
~Krista
