Hi Friends! First and foremost, I want to say Happy Veteran’s Day to all who have served! Thank you so very much for your service and for being willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. We have a great nation because of these great men and women!!
I’m back today sharing some more gift tags using products from Lawn Fawn. I’ve used the stamp set, “Say What? Christmas Critters” along with the coordinating dies, “Say What? Gift Tag dies“.
There are two tag dies that work together, creating a frame tag and a solid tag. I created a window pane by using a small piece of acetate glued to the backside of the frame tag.
By placing a strip of narrow dimensional foam tape around the outer edge of the solid tag, I created a border to “box in” the glitter. I used about 1/8 teaspoon of glitter in each tag.
Once the glitter’s in place, then it’s time to put them together. Carefully line up the edges and place the frame over the solid tag. Now you’ve got a shaker tag!
Embellishing the front of the tag is a breeze with the Christmas Critters stamps! They’re perfectly sized AND there are several more “Say What?” sets available with different critters. Check out a couple of them here and here.
I love the unicorn and llama because they’re not traditional Christmas critters and I know my granddaughter is going to love them!
I made about 30 of these tags in one sitting, so after stamping and die cutting all of the critters, I set them up assembly line fashion and went into coloring mode.
Affordable alcohol markers…
I used Ohuhu Alcohol Markers to color the images before adhering them to the tag fronts. These markers come in a number of set sizes, and are very affordable compared to other brands. They blend beautifully, the tips hold up extremely well and I haven’t had one run out of ink yet. My best advice…get the biggest set you can afford, make a color chart with them and then color your pretty little heart out!!
An affordable storage solution…
Because Ohuhu’s are so affordable, I got the 320 set but then realized I’d need a way to organize them. While I often see photographs of custom built craft rooms, that’s not what I have! Mine is a big hodge-podge of mismatched filing cabinets, tables and storage units. Suffice it to say, I really didn’t care what the marker storage looked like, as long as it was sturdy and reasonable priced. After lots of looking, I ended up with two of these desktop storage units as well as a coordinating unit for my Distress Oxide pads.
These storage pieces were super easy to put together and I didn’t even have to ask my husband for help! 🙂 I’m very happy with them and my work table looks so organized and pretty now!
The word bubbles were all cut from white card stock and then stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Once stamped, these cute puns were attached to the tag with their coordinating critters.
There are so many pretty patterned Christmas papers that could be used, but I chose some from Sunny Studio Stamps. Besides having beautiful paper, Sunny Studio also has such cute stamp designs like I used in my previous post.
I’ve had so much fun making gift tags this year and I should be all set for the Christmas shopping season, which is right around the corner! It’ll be time to shop, wrap and tag those gifts very soon!
As I cleaned up my tag making mess, I realized that I’d failed to share any Fall creations. It appears that I skipped right over the Thanksgiving season, so I will aim to share some those designs very soon. Sometimes I just get too focused on one thing, forgetting all else! 🙂
Until next time,
~Krista
