I instantly fell in love with the filmstrip die from My Life in Pictures Die set. This set is part of the Rosie’s Golden Afternoon Collection from Rosie’s Studio & Spellbinders. Geared towards scrapbookers and card makers alike, the film strip can be a fun element to decorate! Use it in a collage fashion, with photos, stamped images, stickers or the like. Add to smash books, paper bag albums and shabby chic or grunge decor for a nostalgic feel!
One of my all-time favorite grunge paper packs is the Craft Consortium Grunge- Light Tones. For the cards I’m featuring today, I’ve used these beautiful papers as the foundation for the background. The gentle tones and weathered effect of the grunge pattern give the cards a unique, artsy feel, adding just the right amount of character without overwhelming the design. Both cards have a very cohesive and nostalgic look, thanks to the versatile nature of the Craft Consortium Grunge- Light Tones pack.
Card 1: Filmstrip with flowers…

This first card is a mini slimline size, measuring 3 1/2” wide by 6” tall. I placed the black filmstrip to the left of center and kept it in a vertical position. Its openings were filled with a soft pistachio green card stock.

Next, I cut some flower pieces using Spellbinders Botanical Solarium Dies, which were the perfect size for the filmstrip die openings. I also made some Mini 3D wax flowers with a “coming-soon” product, the Gorgeous You Mini Wax Seals. By mixing yellow and white wax, I was able to make each flower look slightly unique. After creating the wax seals, I used scissors to cut out the flowers, and added them to a die cut stem.
Included with the filmstrip die is the cursive word “smile” with a coordinating shadow die. These I cut from black and white card stock before gluing them together. My Life in Pictures Die set also includes some decorative pieces- a heart, star and a banner. I added a black heart below “smile”.
Card 2: Filmstrip Die with Dragonfly…

To create this second card, I once again cut my background from the Craft Consortium Grunge paper. Placing a black filmstrip somewhat diagonally across the card front, I filled in the openings with a dark grey card stock.
To create the dragonfly, I used the Soaring Dragonfly Dies from Spellbinders January Club of the Month. Cut from gold foiled paper and lilac-colored card stock, this dragonfly really stands out against the dark background!
Over the body of the dragonfly, I added an olive green colored Puffy Heart Mini 3D Wax Seal. These mini 3D wax seals are releasing soon from Spellbinders as an addition to the Gorgeous You Collection, which I’ve shared previously, here.
Another part of Rosie’s Golden Afternoon Collection, is the Cherish This Betterpress Plates & Dies, and are what I used for the words on the card front. Because Betterpress Plates can also be used with the Glimmer Hot Foiling System, I foiled the words in gold to coordinate with the gold on the dragonfly!
As an added visual element, I looped some gold thread and placed it behind the dragonfly, as well as adhering a few black stars.

Each of today’s cards were crafted with love! I sure hope you enjoyed following along and I appreciate the time you spent with me!
Until next time,
~Krista
