Let me tell you a story from many years ago, so that you’ll understand an addiction of mine. My story will explain how I began my love of stamps at a very young age.
When I was in 6th grade, our teachers came up with Friday Afternoon Electives, in which students could choose to learn about a certain subject or hobby. Every Friday afternoon, we got to attend our session of choice.
I honestly don’t remember any of the choices except the one I chose, which was stamp collecting…as in postage stamps, aka philately. I stayed with that elective every week for the rest of that school year!
Due to this Friday elective when I was 12 years old, I became a life long stamp collector, filling many albums with postage stamps from around the world. I learned about other countries, where they were located, their flags, leaders and more.
Fast forward 25 years and I began a different kind of stamp collection- rubber stamps! Oh my, how that collection has grown and become my hobby, job and love!
Not surprisingly, when Waffle Flower Crafts came out with a whole line of postage stamp stencils, stamps and dies, I WAS ALL IN! Two hobbies have combined into a single one and I couldn’t be happier.

Today I’m sharing my Wildflowers Postage Collage card, filled with colorful florals, postage marks and a birthday wish!
Let’s build it together…
- Begin by die-cutting a white piece of card stock with Waffle Flower’s A2 Postage Collage Die. (These are offered in 5 different card sizes!!)
- Place onto a sticky mat and lay the Collage Blocks Stencil over the top. This will be used to create the background.
- Lay down a soft yellow ink blend through the stencil openings. I used a water-based ink pad with a blending brush. Carefully remove stencil.
- Lay the first Wildflower stencil over the panel. Choose light ink tones, blending through the stencil. Remove stencil and replace with the 2nd one.
- Use medium tones and blend through the openings of the stencil.
- Replace 2nd stencil with 3rd and blend in the leaves with green and darker shades for flower centers. Remove stencil.
- Use Postage Collage Stamps with black ink and randomly stamp various postage marks over the stenciled panel. Remove panel from sticky mat.
- Use a white gel pen to add highlights to the flowers. Allow to dry.
- Adhere postage panel to a black mat measuring 4” x 5 1/4”.
- Cut a purple card base measuring 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” (fold in half) and then adhere postage panel to card base.
- Stamp a greeting and pop it up with dimensionals over the card front.

An addiction…at least it’s healthy!
Waffle Flower has not limited us with only wildflower postage stamps, OH NO! There are cupcakes, butterflies, Christmas, harvest, snowmen, Halloween, frogs and MORE! Indeed, one could make postage collages all day long!!
With so many design options, choose what you love and start creating! Use other “non-postage” stencils and stamps to create your own postage stamps. See a couple of my creations here: Watermelon and Chocolates cards which are both mini slimline sized. There are five different sizes for Waffle Flowers postage dies! 🙂
I hope you’ve enjoyed my quick tutorial and thanks so much for stopping by!
Until next time,
~Krista
