Card embellishments are what we add to a handmade card to give it a final “wow factor”. I recently joined Waffle Flower’s Sneak Peek Club and was excited when my March 2025 kit arrived. I recently discovered how much fun wax seals can be on cards, and Waffle Flower’s kit made it even better! Their Wax Seal Trio Dies set lets you create paper wax seals in three different sizes—such a charming addition to anyone’s embellishment stash. Now every card I send can be sealed with love!
Subscribing to the Sneak Peek Club is an exciting surprise, as one never knows what’s coming. However, for those who don’t like surprises, there is an option to receive a “spoiler” email before the kit ships. This gives subscribers the option of canceling for the month if they so choose. At just $29.99 per month, it’s very affordable. You can take a peek at the previous clubs to get an idea of how much product subscribers get each month!
Inspiration for today…
Deciding on a color theme is always my first step when making a card and I always love a good challenge. With that in mind, I checked out the current challenge at Color Throwdown, and decided to play along! These soft Springtime colors gave me the inspiration that I needed for this Sealed with Love post!

Picking an image…
I decided to use some reading-themed stamps from Newton’s Nook featuring both dogs and cats. But then came the tough decision—dog or cat?? I couldn’t choose, so I went with both… or should I say, all three! Two dogs and a cat! Decisions, decisions! 🙂
The Newton’s Nook stamp sets that I used are: Newton’s Reading List, Puppy’s Reading List and All Booked Up.
After making a trio of cards for last week’s post, I decided to do it again, even using the same background. Spellbinders newest stitching die, with its notebook paper theme seemed perfect for today’s cards!
I proceeded to cut three backgrounds, one from each of the challenge colors.
Choosing coordinating DMC embroidery threads, I sat down and quickly stitched these backgrounds. Once stitched, I adhered each one to it’s card base.
Coloring the images
Coloring has always been one of my favorite past-times, so I look forward to sitting down with my Ohuhu Alcohol Markers and working on a project.
Here are the Ohuhu marker colors I used:
- Green: G360, G4, BG8
- Yellow: Y030, Y050, Y070
- Purple: V020, V150, V160
- Neutrals: WG01, YR209, E170, Y12
Adding the right sentiment
For the lavender background card, I used a sentiment from All Booked Up, which says “Reading makes ruff days better!”.

Continuing with the other two cards, I used stamps from their prospective stamp sets to add the title onto each book. However, I wanted these to be birthday cards, so I used some computer generated sentiments that I created.

Sealed with love, the embellishments
Finally, it was time to make the embellishments with Waffle Flowers Wax Seal Dies. I used card stock according to the color theme and then pieced each “seal” together. Here’s a picture of the pieces prior to assembly:

I used blending brushes and ink to darken the raised pieces, creating some dimension.

Assembly time!
Now that all of the pieces were cut, stitched, colored and ready, it was assembly time! I always play around with positions before adhering the pieces. Adding dimensional tape to the backs of the colored images and sentiments, I began putting the cards together.
The final addition of the paper wax seals completed my cards!
With a softer color palette than my previous post, these adorable animals are sealed with love and are ready to make someone smile! I hope they made YOU smile! 🙂
Until next time,
~Krista
