Hi friends! I am excited to be introducing Spellbinders Bougie Birthday Collection, launching today!
To be completely honest…I had to ask my son and daughter-in-law what “bougie” meant, as I wasn’t familiar with the word. They quickly named off a dozen or more descriptions for me, which makes me think it’s a young, hip word and I must be old! 🙂 So in case you’re in the dark like I was, it means glamorous, glitzy & full of sparkle. My son said “hoity-toity” and “high maintenance” and those probably fit as well!
This new Spellbinders Bougie Birthday Collection consists of five die sets, an embossing folder with coordinating stencil, and Betterpress sentiments, all of which are listed below:
- Ganache Gateau Etched Dies
- Birthday Cheers Etched Dies
- Fabulous Birthday Etched Dies
- Treat Yourself Gift Card Holder Etched Dies
- Classy Numbers Etched Dies
- Bougie Birthday Sentiments Press Plates
- Born to Sparkle 3D Embossing Folder & stencil
First attempt…
Today I’m sharing the first card I made when I received the products, and for the most part, I liked how it turned out. The cake comes from the Ganache Gateau die set which includes the frosting, macarons, truffles and more.
Let’s put it together…
My card base is a soft vanilla color, measuring 5” x 7” when folded. The mat is a pecan brown color and was embossed with Born to Sparkle 3D Embossing Folder. The diamonds from the embossing folder are very raised and create a stunning backdrop. I cut the cake from glittery white card stock and the frosting from plain white, so there’s quite a bit of contrast.
The macarons are cut from various pinks and browns and then pieced together, interchanging the colors for a nice variety. I placed them on top of the cake and in the bottom left corner for balance.
From an espresso brown card stock, I cut the word “sassy” (Fabulous Birthday dies) and “16” (Classy Numbers dies) placing them above the cake. I wanted the “16” to look like it was sitting on the cake, but my placement ended up with it looking buried. If I make this card again, I’ll change that placement!
Making a gift card envelope…
Having some left over macarons, I decided to make a coordinating gift card holder using the Treat Yourself Gift Card Holder dies which are part of the Spellbinders Bougie Birthday Collection. The dies create the folding card holder, rectangular mats, the words “for you”, streamers and decorative accents. This set is quite generic and will be useful for so many occasions, including the holidays!
If you love to celebrate life’s special moments, this collection is probably one that you’ll want to have on hand. I have more samples to share in the coming weeks, so stay tuned, keep crafting and be healthy in this new year!
Until next time,
~Krista
